I don't want to leave anyone out!

I've been feeling bad lately that I never make anything for my own child because I'm too busy always making flowers and bows. He is probably my biggest fan though. He's always telling me how pretty everything that I make is and who they should go to. :) I bought a pattern for a little boy's tie over a year ago but just never got around to making one. I finally told my son I would make one for him so I took him to the fabric store to pick out some fabric and this is what he chose. He was SUPER excited when it was done and gave me the best hug ever! I'm so glad I could finally make something for him. I think little boys get left out sometimes so I've decided to add some of these ties to my shop. I'm taking a few different ones to Sugar Plum this week.

Boutique Season is Here!!

I've been super busy getting ready for the 6 boutiques I have coming up in the next two months! The first one starts in one week from today!

One Week Away!

I'm so excited! Only one more week until the Pineapples and Palm Trees Summer Boutique.

I've been keeping myself pretty busy trying to come up with some new designs and I'm pretty happy with everything so far but I still have a LOT of work to do in the next 7 days. :) I hope to see lots of you there!

New Accessories!

I've decided to branch out a little from the hair accessories and add something new to my shop. I started with these adjustable flower rings that I posted a couple of months ago.

Then I got so excited about making something different and it went from there. Sometimes I get a little bored of the same thing (as some of you may already know). One of my most frequent phrases as a kid was, "I'm bored!" That's what got my Etsy Shop started in the first place. I always have to be doing something and I had no need for a million hair clips so I decided to share with the world. I made these flower necklaces last month and I love how they turned out. I also made some rings and earrings but I don't have any pictures of those yet.

I decided to put my sewing skills to use and made these little clutches. I originally made them for my friend and I to use for our coupons but they can be used for whatever you want! They're about 4 inches tall by 8 inches across, have a magnetic snap, and come with a cute little embellishment on the front.

A few of these are already sold but some of them are still available or I still have more of the same fabric.

Sugar Plum Festival!

I'm so excited that I got the opportunity to be a vendor at Sugar Plum Festivals Summer Boutique in the Buena Park mall this week. They've been around since 1978 and it's a great boutique. It's going on now through Saturday. Be sure to check it out. There are 92 vendors at this one so there's sure to be something for everyone!

New Stuff!

If you were at the spring boutique you probably saw a lot of this stuff there so just keep scrolling down to see a few new things.

I've redesigned the chiffon flowers just a tad and added lots of new colors including some nice neutral colors.

 I found a much easier way to cut & heat seal the ends of the korkers so I decided to give them a shot again.

 Going through my craft closet I found a ton of stuff that I didn't know what to do with so I decided to make a few of these woven headbands to clip the bows into.

 Set of 2 Small Bows. They are about two inches across and would be adorable in little pigtails or just use one to sweep aside some little bangs. These are available in LOTS of colors so if you're looking for something in particular let me know because I probably have it!

I had these flowers at the boutique too and I just LOVE them. They're about three inches across. It's also available in a few more colors but they sold out before I took the pictures. (I know there was lavender, purple, and black but there's one more I can't think of off the top of my head). 

These little round flowers are made of the same fabric as the flowers above but are a little smaller.  They're about two and a half inches and come in 32 colors so there's more than likely one that would go with just about everything.

 

This next flower is the newest addition here at The Spunky Little Monkey.  It took a little experimenting with different fabrics before I tried this one and fell in love.  It's a lot bigger than the rest of my flowers measuring over four inches in diameter.

Now What?

I had an excellent time at the Penelope Lane Spring Boutique this weekend and according to my inventory I think things went pretty well...although we'll have to see how good my record keeping skills are once I get my tags back.  I was working on barely any sleep this week so I'm not sure how accurate I was.  I enjoy going to these boutiques so much because it's such a change from sitting in an office by myself. 

My dad built these great displays for me that turned out better than expected.  He always goes above and beyond whenever I ask him to make me something.  I had seen something similar online when searching for a new way to display my clips.  I knew I wanted something that could keep everything somewhat organized. It worked out pretty well except for the fact that I would have needed about four or five of these to display all of the different color flowers.  One of the styles comes in 32 different colors and I only had five hooks to put them on so there were a lot of hidden colors that people probably didn't even see.

My problem now is that I have NO IDEA what to do.  I've been so crazy busy the past month getting ready for the boutique and last night I put everything back in order and boxed up for storage.  Today I'm sitting here while my husband and son are both taking a nap and I'm going stir crazy! I almost feel like something is missing with nothing in my hands.  So here I am finally updating my blog.  I think my next project will be sewing together this box full of korker ribbon in front of me.  When the rain stops I need to take pictures of everything from the boutique to post on my Etsy shop so stay tuned!

Spring Boutique

The Spring Boutique is right around the corner. I've been busy making lots of new clips. So far this week I've cut about 900 pieces of fabric and made about 75 flowers but I still have LOTS to go! I thought I should do a quick post so you people don't think I've gone missing.  Back to work...

Welcome to The Spunky Little Monkey, the place for all things hair!  I have several different style hair clips for girls and women alike, including double ruffle ribbon bows, curly ostrich puffs, crochet flowers, kanzashi flowers and lots of other fabric flowers.  All bows are attached to a partially lined alligator clip and can be worn alone or clipped onto a headband, hat, etc.
